1:1 Chromebook Information

Technology has become an integral part of the educational experience in Cambridge. Educators use technology to enhance students’ learning experiences and understanding of the world. Students, in turn, get to expand their ability to communicate, create, collaborate and think critically through innovative lessons, assignments and projects.

The district’s 1:1 technology initiative assigns a Chromebook to all students in the district (grades K-12). It is up to the discretion of elementary teacher(s) if the student brings their Chromebook home or keeps it at school. Students in grades 7-12 will be expected to bring their Chromebooks to school every day and to use it for all computer-based school assignments. There is no fee for families unless a student’s Chromebook is damaged, lost or stolen. All families must sign the Chromebook parental consent form at the start of each school year.

Damaged, Lost or Stolen Chromebooks

If a student’s Chromebook is damaged, lost or stolen, families may be responsible for paying for the repair. The repair costs are:

  • $199 if the device is lost or damaged beyond repair
  • $49.99 if the screen is broken
  • $20 if the charger is lost

As soon as a Chromebook is damaged or lost, students should report that information to the technology department.
