This is a plan that has been designed to meet the educational needs of the Cambridge school community. A counseling program is one that is results-based, comprehensive, developmentally-appropriate, proactive, and designed to reach every student.
The Cambridge school counselors are leaders, advocates and educators within the school system. The counselors will collaborate with the development and application of the comprehensive school counseling program. Our collaboration is guided by the belief that our students are the priority; this notion has laid the groundwork for the development of the school counseling plan. A variety of direct and indirect support services, academic advising, skill-development supports, and classroom interventions are incorporated throughout the comprehensive guidance plan to facilitate student success across academic, career, social and emotional domains.
Our comprehensive school counseling model recognizes school counselors as integral participants in collaborating and facilitating student achievement. Collaboration stretches throughout the school and community, including teachers, administrators, community members, and families that all are considered to be integral stakeholders in our students’ success. Collaboration with these members provides direction for our work and program interventions. With the support of the superintendent, building principals, and the Board of Education, the Cambridge Central School counselors are able to implement the comprehensive school counseling program effectively.
