Parent/Guardian Message

This message was sent by Turina M. Parker, Ed. D., District Superintendent of WSWHE BOCES

The Cambridge Central School District Board of Education is currently in the process of soliciting candidates for the position of Superintendent of Schools. I anticipate inviting semifinalists to Cambridge in late February for extensive interviews with two advisory committees composed of multiple stakeholders. Each Advisory Committee will have the following composition: one administrator, three members of the faculty association (including one teaching assistant) selected from multiple grade levels and subjects, two members of the CSEA, two parents, two community members, and two students for a total of 24 individuals; 12 per each Advisory Committee.

If you are interested in being a member of the Advisory Committee, please contact Kate Canini by Tuesday, Jan. 28 at kate.canini@cambridgecsd.org or by phone at 518-677-2653, ext. 1010. When calling, please let Mrs. Canini know the grade level(s) of your child(ren) in the district. In the event that there are more than four parents who volunteer to serve on the Advisory Committee, participants will be chosen by lottery.

Please review both the charge to the Advisory Committees and the meeting schedule to be sure that your nominees will be able to fulfill the obligation.

The charge to each Advisory Committee is to:

  • appoint co-chairs;
  • interview all semi-finalists;
  • assess the strengths and weaknesses of each of the candidates and report back to the Board verbally and in writing.

The Advisory Committees are scheduled to meet on the following dates:

  • Monday, Feb. 24 from 5-7 p.m. in the Secondary Library Media Center with WSWHE BOCES Senior Executive Officer, Tony Muller, to go over interview protocol and develop interview questions.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m. to interview semifinalists.
  • The evening of Wednesday, Feb. 26 with the Board of Education to report the committees’ findings to the Board.

Please be advised that attendance at these sessions is mandatory to ensure a consistent and fair interview for the selected candidates.

If you have any questions regarding any part of this process, please feel free to contact my office at 518-746-3310, ext. 9.
