What do you love most about working at CCS?
I truly love working in a district that has always had, and still has, so many great students and staff. We are so lucky to have the student body that we do, and our students are just as lucky to have the amazing staff supporting them each day!
Why did you want to become a teacher?
My years as a student at Cambridge truly shaped me into the person I am today. I knew from a young age that there was nothing I would rather do than return to Cambridge Central to give my own students an experience like the one that I am grateful for.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part is getting to spend each day with the students at Cambridge. Having students continuously come to my room just to say hi or putting forth their best effort in the classroom is so exciting to see.
What are the top three items on your bucket list?
I recently traveled to Ireland, so making it back there is definitely a top priority! Included in my top three would also be visiting as many states as possible as well as another trip to a different country in 2024!
What would students be surprised to know about you?
I am the third generation of Cambridge teachers in my family! My nana, Mary Austin, taught at Cambridge. I always like to start the year off by letting my students know that Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Sawyer are my aunts. It will be a sad day once their last group of students graduate.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to coach, spend time outside and be with my family and friends.
What is some advice you would give to students?
If there is one thing you can choose to be in this world, choose to be kind. You never know how far a little act of kindness may go for others. Be kind to your family, your friends, your teachers, and your peers.
